Happy Back to School!  Hope everyone has a great year.  When your school year is over we will be about home!

It's been a super busy and great week at the temple.  We had a group from Vanuatu this week.  They are the most humble and pure people that you would ever want to meet.  They are so happy to be in the temple and it is our privilege to serve them.  This week I was able to watch a sealing of a family with 7 children.  It was very touching and the sealing room was filled with such a sweet spirit. These people have such a different life from ours.  Most have never been off their little island.  They have no idea what a vacuum is.  We have to show them what it is and how to use it so they can clean their flats before they leave.  The best is to watch the kids on the elevator.  You'd think it was a ride at Disneyland.  When you take them on it, they are laughing and giggling like crazy.  On Friday night we had a group of 40 come from Lautoka.   They stayed here in patron housing along with the group from Vanuatu.  We didn't have a room or bed to spare.  By time they all came to our little temple on Saturday, along with a group from Nausori and the locals, it was filled to the brim.  Such a great day!  The other day we had a Fiji celebrity come with his wife to be sealed.  He was this big guy and they said he played rugby. After the sealing all these return missionaries that are serving at the temple were outside getting an autograph and their pictures with him.  We thought that maybe he was more important than we thought.  Come to find out, he plays for the Fijian Flyers, which is the national team.  He was just named to the Fiji World Cup rugby team and was heading the next day to Paris to play in the world cup.  So he was a pretty big deal! 
At church on Sunday was our Primary program.  It was just like home.  Lots of cute kids.  Some that knew their parts, some that needed help, some that were scared and some that just crack you up.  They sang beautifully.  We have no one that can play the piano so we mostly just sing acapella.  They did have a CD playing for them to sing to and it sounded beautiful.
We have finally had a few days without rain and wind.  So today we went to a different beach.  It was called the black sand beach because the sand is actually black.  It looks like it is wet.  There were a couple of little boys playing and they became our friends.  The one little boy, Ben, said he could climb to the top of a tree and get us some coconuts.  We didn't think he was serious but he was!
All in all it has been a great week.  At times I get pretty homesick, but when I'm in the temple I know that this is where we need to be.  Hope all is well with all of you.  Know that we think of you often and you are in our prayers.

Happy Thanksgiving!!! Thanksgiving is not celebrated here, but that's ok because we have visitors coming on Thursday.  We can't wait!!!!  It's going to be such a wonderful week.   As I wrote last week, we had a cyclone warning.  It didn't hit until Wednesday night.  We didn't really notice it because it was in the middle of the night.  There were pretty high winds and rain, but not too much damage.  By noon, the sun was out and it was a beautiful day.  I don't know if it was because of the storm, but we had the most amazing sunset.  We met an elder getting ready to leave for the Ogden, Utah mission from Fiji.  I hope he makes his way out to Plain City.   We had some missionaries for dinner.  It's so fun to have them.  Such strong boys.  There were three of them because one was leaving in the morning so he was staying with the two others.  On Wednesday, 6 missionaries were heading home-...

Happy December! Can't believe it is December.  It doesn't feel like December here.  It is pretty hot.  Hard to get in the holiday spirit when it's 85 degrees.  Didn't send an email last week because we were busy with family from home.  We had such a great time.  Such a wonderful way to spend Thanksgiving.  We did so many fun things.  We went out to an island and spent the day snorkeling, relaxing and enjoying each other.  It was a beautiful place and a good way to start the week.  We stayed at the Wyndham Resort.   It was beautiful.  Lynn and I stayed there before and the kids loved it too.  We went ziplining through the rain forest (first time zip lining for me).  So fun!  Ate Thanksgiving  on Sunday.  I even found a turkey!  It was really pretty good.  We went on a hike through Colo-i-Suva National Forest.  Fun waterfalls and pools to swim in.  Monday was...

Good Monday (Fiji), Sunday (home), Had a great week at the temple.  There was a group here this week from Vanuatu.  A small island about 1200 km from Suva.  They came late Monday night and stayed until Saturday.  They stayed in the same complex where our flat is.  We were able to work with them quite a bit in the temple.  They all took out their endowments and then were sealed as a family.  There were probably around 30 of them.  Their little kids are so cute.  They would watch for us to come home from the temple and then run and give us big hugs.  One day I was able to get 2 of the cutest little girls ready for their sealing.  They were so scared--different place different faces and different clothing.  But the sealing was beautiful.  Their dad is the branch president.  He's probably only around 30.  They are building a temple in Vanuatu.  Hopefully they will set the example for other saints on...
