Happy October,
Wow! I can't believe it is October. As Anne of
Green Gables said, "I'm glad I live in a world of Octobers." It is such
a beautiful time of year. We have missed the fall colors.
We
have had a great week. The temple is closed for cleaning, so we headed
over to another island called Taveuni. We flew over on a rickety
little plane. It was truly a tropical paradise. We stayed at a resort
where we had our own beach house right on the ocean. You walked out our
door and there was the water. We even had an outdoor shower. We hiked
to and swam in waterfalls, went on a coastal walk that was beautiful
right along the sea, snorkeled at a reef in the the middle of the ocean
which felt like we were swimming in an aquarium and stood on the
international date line. What a trip. The pictures don't do it
justice, but it will give you an idea of how beautiful it was.
We
came home and we were able to watch conference a day after it was
broadcast. We are so blessed to have the technology we have now.
Today
was a fun day. A missionary serving here, Elder Cooper, parents brought
18 huge suitcases filled with clothes, book, toys, flip flops from
their home in Oregon. They took it to the little town of Waikola. We
went over to help them set things up. I couldn't believe how much stuff
there was. They had invited five villages to come. The kids were so
excited and grateful for whatever they got. At the end of the day,
there was not one thing left. After they sang and put on a little show
for us. It had to be so rewarding for this family. The mom grew up in
Taylor. She graduated from Fremont in 1997. Her name was Lisa
Atkinson.
We have some more fun adventures this week, so I'll have more next week.
Enjoy the fall, it will probably snow before you know it.
